Kolby Koczanowski is licensed professional and board-certified music therapist who relocated to Atlanta this past year from Overland Park, KS after completing his music therapy internship at The George Center for Music Therapy, Inc. Kolby graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and is currently finishing his Master of Music Eduction in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas. He will be defending his master’s thesis in Spring 2018, which is a theoretical framework describing the therapeutic functions of music to promote basic emotion recognition skills in children with ASD. Since relocating, Kolby has enjoyed exploring the greater Atlanta area, spending most of his time attending various live music venues, such as the Tabernacle, Terminal West, and Buckhead Theater. The best concert he has ever attended was his first concert ever when he saw Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg, Korn, and The Used all on the same stage back in 2004. Kolby’s favorite thing about the George Center is the camaraderie of all the therapists and employees who go above and beyond their call of duty to serve their clients and community. Lastly, Kolby’s favorite experiences at the George Center have been facilitating for The Giving Tree, Any Dream Will Do!, Camp CreARTive, and Camp Hollywood.
