Jenny Branson is a licensed and board certified music therapist that joined The George Center in 2018. She completed a bachelor of arts degree from Western Kentucky University, a music therapy equivalency from the University of Louisville, and is currently pursuing a master of science degree from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Board certified since 2004, Jenny has worked in private practice, school, nursing home, and adult medical and rehabilitation settings.
From 2004-2017, Jenny worked to design and implement the Norton Healthcare Music Therapy Program in Louisville, Kentucky. The program provides music therapy services to adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients in five different facilities across the Louisville Metro. Jenny developed protocols for patients struggling with pain management, with agitation in critical care, recovering from orthopedic surgery, and to support respiratory therapy and psychosocial goals in pulmonary rehabilitation. She has advanced skills in assessment and goal setting in a therapeutic setting.
Jenny has pursued continuing education in music therapy and related fields. Trainings and courses include neurologic music therapy training in 2004, MATADOC training in 2017, classical guitar lessons, and a variety of neurologic rehabilitation and disorders coursework over the past fourteen years. Her focus areas in her master's program are research and leadership.
Jenny is a classically trained percussionist and still performs with orchestras, concert bands, wind ensembles, and percussion ensembles. She uses percussion, voice, guitar, and a variety of folk and ethnic instruments in her work as a music therapist.
When she is not learning and working, Jenny enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, and time with friends and family.
