Spotlight on FOCUS
Summer is a busy time here at the George Center as we serve lots of different organizations that have summer camps and programs for children with special needs. FOCUS is one of the amazing non-profit organizations that we serve through Camp Hollywood, a week-long adventure for children who are medically fragile or have other special needs and their siblings. Each day of Camp Hollywood is themed around a different current kid-friendly movie that campers explore through music therapy, art, cooking, and science activities! Camp Hollywood is always a blast!
FOCUS also offers other camps and programs for families including Camp Infinity and Camp Team, as well as Saturday respites throughout the school year. There’s something truly special about FOCUS though… this organization doesn’t just provide programming for children with special needs, they encourage families who are in the hospital by dropping in to share a smile (and sometimes chocolate) and provide a place for support, comfort, hope, and fun for families going through similar situations.
I am so thankful for the way this organization comes alongside families to walk with them through their journey and for the financial supporters who make the great work that FOCUS does possible throughout the year! Be sure to check out FOCUS online and see how you can be involved in this phenomenal asset to our community!
